Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying

Mike Vanderburgh is a Registered Psychotherapist who specializes in trauma-focused person-centred counselling. He has always had a keen interest in understanding human behaviour and the human mind. This interest led him to pursue a degree in Honours Psychology at Redeemer University.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Mike decided to further his education and pursue a master's degree in counselling psychology. During his graduate studies, Mike became particularly interested in the effects of trauma on individuals and families. He focused his research and coursework on this area and sought out opportunities to gain hands-on experience working with trauma.

Upon completing his master's degree, Mike began practising as a clinical therapist. In this role, he worked with adults with a wide range of issues. Mike's approach to therapy is centred around creating a trusting and supportive relationship with his clients. He believes that everyone has the ability to heal and grow, and his role as a therapist is to guide his clients through the process of self-discovery and healing. Mike is passionate about helping his clients overcome the challenges that come with trauma and watching them become stronger and more resilient individuals.

Mike is committed to continuing his education and staying up-to-date on the latest research and techniques in counselling. He is completing level 1 EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and also uses Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as well as aspects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.
