Janet Derksen, RP

Janet is an educator by profession and is certified to teach across the developmental spectrum from Kindergarten to Grade 12. After many years of working with children and adolescents in classrooms and non-profit organizations in Chicago and in the Greater Niagara Region, Janet developed a desire to support families as they navigate the challenges and seasons of life. She completed an MDIV in Clinical Counselling at Tyndale University and has been working with The Play Clinic since April 2022.

Janet's training in psychotherapy emphasized evidence-based family therapy models and innovative therapies that acknowledge the impact of trauma and the resilience of the human spirit. She has completed level 1 of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and she is intentional about equipping clients of all ages to make sense of their inner world while discovering how to relate to others in healthy and life-giving ways.
Janet is licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
