The Brain Storm

By: Linda Ragsdale

This wordless picture book is a thought-provoking exploration of disruptive feelings. Readers may interpret these as anger, anxiety, or even a creative brain storm.

Follow along as a mood pesters a young boy and ends up rubbing off on all those around him. After a frustrating day under his version of a little dark cloud, he discovers that ultimately working through your feelings and emotions begins with you. The wordless pages inspire readers to "read" the story as they apply their own interpretations to the young boy's plight.

Polyvagal Card Deck

Great for:

- Self regulation

These informational cards enable clients to enhance a broad understanding of their nervous system as well as help clinicians to guide them through a process of tuning in.

The cards have been thoughtfully created to provide polyvagal concepts and prompts grouped into three areas: 1) the autonomic hierarchy: ventral, sympathetic, and dorsal; 2) a section about regulating the system; and 3) a bonus section exploring play, stillness, and change.

Clinicians can use the cards at the beginning of a session to frame the work or at the end to create a plan for ongoing work; clients can reach for the cards any time they want some nervous system support.

A Wibble Called Bipley is story for children who have hardened their hearts or become bullies.

Bipley is a warm cuddly creature, but someone has broken his heart. He feels so hurt that he decides it is just too painful to ever love again. Luckily Bipley meets some creatures who teach him how he can protect himself without hardening his heart.

Moody Cow Learns Compassion

By: Kerry Lee Mclean

This delightful sequel to Moody Cow Meditates reintroduces us to Peter (aka Moody Cow) and meet his mischievous "boys-will-be-boys" friend Bully. Along the way we meet a snake named Jaws, who also goes on to appear in Peter's terrifying dreams, and watch as Bully revels in the deaths of the crickets he feeds the snake. Peter is uncomfortable with the plight of the little creatures, earning him a new nickname: "Coward Cow" because Bully thinks he's a wimp. Once again, Grandfather, the beloved old steer from Moody Cow Meditates, brings serenity and long-horned wisdom as he gently teaches to compassionately identify with other beings. And the story ends with everyone sharing a laugh - and even Jaws and the crickets are happy.

This book also includes two activities - compassionate cricket release and compassionate worm rescue - for parents and children to do together.
