Before you become an associate anywhere you are required to create and run your own business while contracting out your skills to the practice/organization hiring you, in this case - The Play Clinic. The role of an independent contractor (IC) is different from an employee. An IC enters into a contract with a private practice and practices by the terms outlined in this agreed upon document which includes the percentage split per session. This is not the same as getting an hourly wage.

It can be challenging to set all this up since most of us have not had formal training in building a business. It requires a variety of responsibilities including such things as: having your own website/landing page, networking, getting a business license, registering your business, creating your own invoices, taking care of your own taxes and business expenses and more. Most of this stuff needs to be set up before you can practice as an associate at any private practice. Although there is a lot to do, and requires some financial startup funds-its all doable stuff and there are many benefits being an IC. However its not for everyone.  Do you feel this is the right next step for you-if you haven't done it already? Do you feel that you are up to the challenge of starting up? Jodie is able to support you all the way through this process, it would be hellpful for you to reflect on how much support you would need for this.

While associates are independent contractors, they are representatives of the values associated with The Play Clinic. Therefore, it is important that our associates fundamentally share similar values to be consistent and congruent with what clients are expecting. At The Play Clinic we are highly relational and believe in and value a person-centered, collaborative, culturally- informed and trauma-informed approach to counselling. Do you align with these values?  If so, why are these values important to you personally and or professionally?  You can answer generally or highlight a specific area. Please share additional values and beliefs if you like

What are the most important features of an intake process in general and then what extra steps might you take with a client who has experienced trauma?
